We went to a cat rescue that brings in feral cats and places some with people and releases others. We got this guy who seemed a little surly but down to play.

As for me, my parents' cat, Chispa, arrived with her admirers here in Canada, in northern Quebec, last spring from Costa Rica, where my parents had been living for 30 years. She adopted me as her big brother! :)

The ones in my neighborhood now give me a wide berth. I would be nice to them but as one of those cursed with allergies to cats, they can be nowhere near me. A squirt bottle with vinegar and water is always at the ready.
While living in an apartment building, the manager, who knew I liked cats, brought over a cat who had been abandoned when another tenant moved out. Within minutes this cat was on my comfy chair washing himself. He never left.
This is literally how my cat found me. She came knocking at my window before dawn on a below-freezing morning, very hungry, very cold, with no collar or microchip. Walked in when I opened the door.
